Hello, I don't have much faith in our GPs and thought perhaps other parents might have experiences to share.

Son 1 has 3 little bumps in the upper part of his abdomen/under his chest when he stretches. He did have inguinal hernias when he was a baby which were fixed with key hole surgery.

I took him to the chemist who said if they don't bother him (the belly lumps) she wouldn't worry about them, as long as they don't get bigger.

Son 2, possibly has an inguinal hernia as well, as I noticed he looked swollen on one side above his bits when he came out of the bath, I noticed this previously but only after a bath. Again it doesn't bother him.

So I'm not sure if "a stitch in time saves you nine" or if it's better to avoid hospitals, operations etc unless really necessary.

probably make an appointment with your gp who'll let you know best course of action
hernia ops are quick (under 1.5 hrs) and i know they can be done fairly quickly, if you dont want to go down the op route, i would still get advise from the gp who can tell you what to look out for/ changes
HTH

Thanks for your reply. Will follow up with little guy cos it did look pretty weird and I wouldn't want it to get any worse.
Might take big guy along so he can hear what the Doc says and if they're feeling generous they might even have a peek at him.
