DS2 has his adult incisors growing in front of his baby ones

I think that's what they're called, the pointy teeth either side of the front ones.

His milk teeth are still in situ and not wobbly but the new ones are coming through above and in front of them.

Does it matter? Do I need to get him to the dentist now or can it wait until we're next due check-ups in about 3 months time?

Happened to my dd1. Sorted itself out.

Hi

This happened with my DS. He was under an orthodontist at the time, who wasn't really bothered. She left them to come out naturally.

However, my DD had milk teeth removed because she needed a brace fitting and they were in the way and showing no sign of coming out. again, the orthodontist gave then six months or so from mentioning about them to getting the dentist to take them out.

so probably not urgent.

DS never list any of his, adult ones all came through behind his baby teeth ( we called him Jaws) :)

They did get loose and I took him to the dentist who whipped them out as the adult ones got bigger. He said he hadn't really felt it. ( I think it was a bit like pulling a plaster of really quickly the speed the dentist did it)

This happened to me, I had fangs for years!

It sorted its self out eventually and now my teeth are dead straight with no alarming orthodontics involved.

MY DS2 had this - rows of adult and baby teeth, like a shark! He's just finished 2.5 years of braces, and will have to wear a retainer at night for 5 years. He was an extreme case tho - I'm not trying to scare you!

His incisors and canines were coming through the front of the gum IYSWIM - almost straight out. The braces pulled them back and repositioned them in teh correct place. Amazing stuff. Not painful as such (except the extractions) just a long, long process.

(DS2 also had extra canine teeth - one in the roof of his mouth and one between the 2 incisors, that had to be extracted under GA at age 14. They wouldn't start before that. Also had 4 molars removed before braces were fitted) Hope your ds isn't quite as extreme!
