DS3 is poorly again Sad

Since Christmas he's has,

Bilateral ear infection - amoxicillin
Bad cold
Chesty cough
Tonsillitis - penicillin
Bad reaction to penicillin casing hives and swelling.

He still has the chesty, wet cough and snot by the bucketful, on Monday he woke up with think yellow goo around his eyes, they were sealed shut. Tuesday, Wed, Thurs a lot less goo but very watery, red and itchy, today the goo is back and they're getting sealed again.

He's 14 months and it really seems like he can't keep well.

  1. Do I need to seek GP advice re eye drops/ointment for the immediate eye problem?

Also, this may sound silly but his paternal uncle had Paediatric immune deficiency syndrome and was really unwell as a child, he's 20 now and his immune system is just catching up.

Also Ds3's cousin (also on the paternal side) had immune deficiency, although a lot milder than BIL's problems she is still undergoing a lot of tests at GOSH, so with that in mind and DS's constant illnesses,

  1. Should I approach the GP about testing DS for immune problems?

I hope that all made sense, another sleepless night with a baby in discomfort, it's taking it's toll.

Yes, you should approach your GP about testing. If you don't it will always play on your mind. If the results come back as negative then at least you know it's just childhood illnesses.

With regards to the conjunctivitis, it appears to be very prevelent this year. It is a self limiting illness and in most cases will clear of its own accord within three weeks. But I would double check that with the GP also. He might prescribe chloramphenicol if he thinks it's necessary.

I'd suggest also to see your gp. One time I took ds with what I assumed was conjunctivitis and it turned out that his cold was so heavy the snot was coming out of his eyes!
