Hes nearly 9 and is very loud, we are forever telling him to turn his volume down, also has tv up high. Teachers also laughed the other day and said about this which prompted me to get his ears tested. The letter that came back from school has said all passed

My 9 year old DD has a friend like this. It's very annoying but her parents have done the same as you....got her ears checked etc...she's also fine. I can only think that it's similar to those of us who have very sensitive hearing...but opposite. I cannot bear the sound of a handdryer or a siren for instance...it actually hurts me...this little girl and your son could be sort of de-sensitized...or not very sensitive in their hearing.

I would just keep at it...remind him every time he is too loud so that he becomes aware of it....and eventually he might police it himself.

Hearing test at school isn't that accurate. Ds (glue ear) came through as low but okay when we knew from an ENT test the previous week that his hearing was poor.

Ask for an ENT referal for a hearing test (but it may take some time to get on the list)

Really he's never had ear infections or any probs

I'd second school tests being rubbish (vision tests are also poor) do you know who did it and how they did it? Had you had a record of the results? Our ENT said not to bother with them, we go through him for our regular checks, if you are concerned get him a proper check through GP referral or go private

Ps our ds had no ear infections or issues, 5 years old and at school not coping, was a shock to is he couldn't hear, chronic glue ear

Ok will take him to gp
