12 year old with clicky joints

I'm concerned about DS12 he runs, both cross country and track and trains several times a week with school and his club. On top of this does all the other 12year old stuff cycling, skateboarding and surfs.

My concern is he's clicking, if he gets up off the floor his wrists will both click, his knees, arms and he has been suffering from a painful hip.

We put it down to going through a rapid growth spurt and have cut down on training to give his body a rest and have upped oily fish in his diet.

I am going to take him to the Drs this week, am I being silly and be told it's growing pains?

Has anyone else's dc had this?

Is he hypermobile? Clicky joints and joint pain can sometimes be a sign and adolescence can cause difficulties for some children due to growth and added weight on the joints.

Thanks for replying, he seems almost the opposite to hypermobile.

I click & my youngest son (18) clicks. I've never worried and it's useful to know which one of my sons has come in during the night! Going to watch this thread now & worry!

Can't speak about children, but I have clicking joints - practically every joint for that matter clicks - when I sit/stand/flex my legs etc. Annoying for people around me but not causing me any problems so far (am in my 30s). However I am diagnosed as hyper mobile & I have flat feet, also am monitored for Rheumatoid Factor increase every few years (not happened yet). So unless you find any medical 'problem' I think you needn't worry.
