5 months DS Cold for the past 3 weeks and Eczema....

My DS has had a cold for the past 3 weeks.
Initially it was just a runny nose and didn't affect his sleep as much or feeding however the last 2 nights have been bad.

He has woken up multiple times due to coughing (phlegm stuck), coughed up phlegmy milk a few times and clearly been distressed by the whole ordeal.

We have been to the GP a few times and they have said it is a normal cold and have been advised its normal for what he is going through.

Saline drops have been provided but apart from that, is there anything else we can do?

I have read maybe a humidifier or air purifier?

I suspect the weather isn't helping much and we have the heating on set to 20.5c for the house, so it doesn't get too cold however I wonder if this may be worsening things?

He is also suffering from eczema (since birth) so don't know if both conditions are due to the climate change of this time of year....

Any suggestion's to help relieve his symptom's would be greatly appreciated.

Ahh the poor little baba :(
Ok firstly to help with his cold, elevate the top if his matress it will help him to breathe better. A room humidifier would really help too. Vicks do a plug in one, so do Karvol. I'd give home some calpol too.
With regards his eczema.. I feel your pain. Ds has it since birth and it is just awful :( xx there are a few things that worked for us:
A bath in tepid water every evening for min 20mins.
Add half a capful of Milton into the water(on advice from dermatologist) it kills eczema causing bacteria.
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!!
Avoid any cream that has SLS(sodium laureate sulphate) it can burn already very sensitive skin. This includes emulsifying ointment, silcocks base etc;

Maybe try turning down the heating a little, it might be irritating his skin if he is too hot. Also just to add his cold is prob causing hi eczema flare up. Any kind of stress can bring it on.
Hope he is feeling better soon x
