Projectile vomit - 12 week old baby

Oh collective wisdom of Mumsnet - I hope you can keeps sane! This turns out a bit long, but it's relevant I promise.

DD is almost 12 weeks and ebf. She did a huge projectile vomit during a feed last night, and then sicked up her next feed later on.

She woke for a feed in the night (she normally sleeps through now) and fed normally this morning.

I thought all was well, until she projectile vomited again once this afternoon.

I've only let her feed for a few minutes each hour this afternoon and she's happy enough and alert and smily when awake. She's not even overly sleepy.

We've had some dirty nappies, possibly a bit less wee than usual - hard to tell.

I've read the NHS website over and over, but would like some reassurance that while she's feeding, keeping something down, and not showing signs of dehydration, that we should just keep an eye on her and not worry too much.

Does that sound about right? Thanks for reading so far!

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Little and often is best if they are sick, helps it stay down. it's normal for them to wake at night if poorly.

Unless she isn't feeding, is vomiting lots or has diarrhoea so losing more fluids I wouldn't worry to much about dehydration but do keep an eye on nappies.

Thanks! It's definitely good that she woke in the night - it shows she was hungry and she definitely kept that feed down.

Sometimes you just need reassurance you haven't missed some vital sign that they're really poorly!

We've now had a bit of diarrhoea, although she's keeping her milk down. I'm pretty much feeding on demand but latching her off when she slows right down. I don't want her to overload her tummy, and KellyMom suggested it.

She's sleepier than yesterday but alert when awake.

And we both feel like crap so assume it might be a bug that we've now caught Confused

We're feeling very sorry for ourselves!

You poor things. DS had the norovirus at 12 weeks and it was horrible. I panicked a lot but fed little and often and he was fine. The diarrhoea can last 7-10 days but speak to the GP if you are worried at all. Hope you feel better soon.
