Hi... anyone else's child got this... it's bumpy/spotty (no heads) skin... usually upper arms/top of back etc. My DS has had this since birth (no smooth lovely skin for me!)... it's bad on upper arms, occasionally goes on face and neck (cold weather/illness seems to make it worse). I also had as a child and was gone by time I was 12, but wasn't so bad. Doctors have recommended using facial scrubs etc, but he finds these harsh and they don't help. Anyone got any useful suggestions - or is it just a waiting game?

We all have it Grin to some extent or another, I don't really use anything I just keep it clean and moisturise on occasion, there is a thing called oil pulling. There is a website for KP it has a good forum check it out.

Try a gentle paste / scrub with coconut oil and sugar
I had it badly and the only thing that shifted it was soap and glory scrub if your life and the above
Good luck

WOW... I love what I learn here. Never, ever heard of Oil Pulling before... but just searched various sites, found this useful... oilpulling.com/oilpullingmethod.htm ... I will definitely try it, not sure DS, age 7, can do 20 minutes of oil in mouth in mornings, not sure time either, but will try for shorter amount of time and see what happens. He uses mouthwash for a few seconds... so possibly a minute might happen! Thank you Riprap63.
AuntieBrenda... we have gentle pastes and a thick coconut oil body cream... not worked at all.
Personally, I really like pulling the little white threads out with tweezers... but DS not keen! Could spend hours doing that!
THANK YOU.

I have had it in and off for years. The only way I can get rid is to use those scratchy gloves with a decent cleansing shower gel - I like Sanex. And then moisturise.
It's a bit time consuming in the shower but it is easy and within weeks skin is lovely and soft.
My 2 DDs have it but they're only 2.6 so I can't really use scratchy gloves on them yet. Might try soon though!

Hi Twinsplusonesurprise (lucky you!)
Thank you for reply. I had as a child only on upper arms and it departed when my periods started (age 11). Though have heard can get worse at puberty. DS's is worse than mine... appears on cheeks and behind ears as well as arms. Not horrid to look at, but not lovely smooth skin either.
NB... Riprap63 I tried the oil pulling today (I happened to have a jar of solid coconut oil to hand - previously tried on DS skin). Oil pulling is actually quite yuck! I managed to stick a tea-spoon of solid oil in my mouth (it's quite small!) and once melted swilled it around for a while. Think I managed about 5 mins before boredom/gag reflex set in. Did again 20 mins later. Can't really recommend, definitely wouldn't use on DS age 7 for KP, BUT... a stain on my teeth has GONE.... WOW. I intend to do everyday (tea-spoon for up to 10 mins) - keep you posted on results!
I have scrubbed DS skin (he's 7 so can cope). Nothing really works. I think a nice holiday somewhere hot might help...

Hi ChilliQueen, my ds1 has this on his arms and face, and I have it on my arms. Creams with urea in help, eg ccs foot cream, or there is a scholl one with urea. I think Eucerin also do a facial moisturiser with urea. Also there was a thread in chat today where they were all talking about a scrub from Lush. Search 'arm bobbles' and you should find it!

I hope one of these helps. Off to google oil pulling . . .

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2014 22:57

Chilli Have you seen this thread?

Mignonette · 09/01/2014 23:00

You want a cream with at least 12% Urea. My daughter used to have this and we ordered one of these creams from the pharmacy and it works so well.

Amazingly enough Aldi's foot balm has 10% urea and is less than £2. The pharmacy creams are pricier but they work.

ChilliQueen · 10/01/2014 07:32

Thank you... I read the thread about 'arm bobbles' with great amusement - it's a great description of them!! Am going to pop to Lush as soon as it opens!

I've had this all my life. Body brushing before every shower has made a vast different, plus my skin is so much softer than it ever has been. Also, don't squeeze the bumps, it makes more appear!
