Does anyone have specially molded ear plugs for swimming for their dc?

If so do you have a recommendation for which company to use? We need some for our daughter who has holes in her ear drums caused by surgery. They aren't healing as they shd be and she is v prone to ear infections.....

We used putty buddies when DD had grommets and had no problems with them. She swam lots including under water with them and we used them in the bath too. We got them from the swimstop website.

We got in touch with our local hearing clinic at the hospital and they did the moulds for us and it took a few weeks, cost £15 and he got to pick the colours, apparently all nhs trusts do it but some areas charge more than ours do.

If there is a problem with her ear after an OP the NHS should be able to sort it I think? I had the same when I was young and they took a mould of my ear and gave me earplugs?

Buddy putties and swim plugs just fell out constantly as ds has tiny ear holes.

We have tried everything and are prepared to pay fr one thing properly molded. Could try NHs but don't want to wait ages for referral etc.....

My son wears hearing aids and I just asked at my one of his appointments- maybe a local private children's hospital could help? Or least have idea to call!

Yes they need to made to fit - you should need to wiggle them into place!

I didn't need a referal, I rang the hearing center where they sell bit and maintain hearing aids not the ENT dept, got an appointment the same week to take mouldings and no longer than 2 weeks later collected them.

Dnephew had these but the prob was they needed constant redoing as he grew.

His ENT consultant advised him to make his own disposable plugs from cotton wool drenched in vaseline - these work fine but no diving or putting head under water. Water slides etc OK though.

He is 15 and now looking at surgery to graft over his permanently perforated eardrum but has been infection free for 12mo - for the first time in his life!

I slathered Vaseline onto small cotton wool balls then shaped to fit
Commercial companies will fit and make
Also if you call audiology sometimes they will help too

We have tried all the Vaseline type methods. Need something more permanent. Thanks for tips.
