She is not very ill. But I have had to have her home from school all the last week of term, and she is missing other things now. Sad

Have tried a few bits (some homeopathy since that has worked for us in the past, and also rehydration salts which she hated) and went to the doc on Weds. They said if it carries on bring in a stool sample, which I will do tomorrow, but I don't know what else to do.

She is not dehydrated as she is drinking lots and weeing lots. She is having accidents in her pants as she can't tell when she is going to go. Sometimes it is just clear mucus in her knickers. Sometimes the poo is yellow, sometimes brown, sometimes hardly anything. None of the rest of us have caught anything. Mystified.

Back to the docs I think and might even consider A&E as that sounds very abnormal and u would think you won't have to wait for results etc.

I am going to take her to the doctor tomorrow. But it isn't an emergency, so can't really take her to A&E Confused

My DD just had something similar. Three trips to the docs, I sample, results of which were normal (but they only tested for bacteria not viruses). She was fine herself, although a bit off her food at the start.
The diarrhoea stopped after 2 weeks. Loose poos for a few days after. Doc said it was probably a virus.

noblegiraffe · 22/12/2013 20:02

Oh, and no one else caught it, he said we probably were immune from previous exposure. It was a major pain cancelling all the activities.

Definitely go back to the doctors. DS had something similar- went on three blasted weeks, then cleared u very quickly.

Took a stool sample in today and the doc said she was his eighth patient of the day with extended diarrhea. Not much to be done about it and he wasn't worried as she is not dehydrated or impacted or anything. Her stools are slowly returning to normal today, I think.

My 3 year old DS had it for 3 weeks had samples sent off all come back clear.. Doctor advised to cut milk out and I must say it's worked perfectly. After a week or so he was fine. Has to see specialist next month to see if it's intolerance

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 23/12/2013 19:45

Yes, I have family with lactose intolerance so I know it can be a sign - but she hardly drinks milk or has cheese or yoghurt even. (I should probably address that if she doesn't have milk intolerance, actually.)

It started with him going nursery and having cartons of
Fresh milk every single day. You'd be surprised what actually has milk in! Walkers cheese and onion crisps??
