So much so, that if she smells something that is pungent and unpleasant, she vomits Sad She's done this since she was around 2yo.

I was wondering if this was a recognised condition? And if it's common? I haven't taken her to see our GP about it (don't know what could be done; if anything should be).

It's distressing for her and I'd like to help her out. TIA.

The only thing I can add to this is to listen to your dcs make space for their feelings.

It can be hard, because in many day to day circumstances it does impede normal family life.

For me, I regret no knowing his specific issues, ie dystonia and hypermobility, because I would get cross at his whining about being too tired to go to the shops after school. If only I had known then how much effort it took for him to simply to get through school day I would have happily arranged things differently.

As to parenting, I think by nature I am quite a shouty parent! But with ds I learnt early on that shouting just caused meltdowns, and so I have ended up being a very unshouty parent. And as a result we have a very calm and mediated way of talking to each other.

I am not in any way saying I am a great parent. God knows, I have failed again and again.

But I think now I am a decent enough parent to the child I have in my care.

I have a very sensitive sense of smell and can get very nauseous if I smell something unpleasant. Strong perfumes, foods i don't like, BO or chemicals will all make me gag and if I have a migraine I'll vomit at any strong smell.

I have sensory issues (un-diagnosed but I have two kids with ASD so it's likely I'm on the spectrum too as I have many ASD traits).

It might be worth asking for a referral for her if she shows a lot of signs of sensory issues. SPD can be a standalone issue or it can be related to ASD/dyspraxia/ADHD.
