DS been complaining of headaches after TV and reading for a few months. His optician increased his prescription last month at yearly check up - only slightly but thought it would help.

He has been saying recently the floor keeps tilting suddenly and it's scaring him. He also still says he gets a headache after watching the screen. I've asked if he has pain in his ears etc and he says no.

Anyone had experience of this? Would I sound like a loon if I took him to the GP because he's not actually unwell. He has bowel problems and allergies as well as being assessed for ASD so I really worry I'll come across as ' one of those mothers' iykwim?

It sounds similar to my experience of vertigo. The floor seems to move, rather than an obvious spinning. I had bouts of it when I was young too. Its in a similar category as migraines which could link up with his headache. Maybe reduce screen time /see the doctor .

Don't worry what the GP thinks - if you're concerned, tell them. If anything they might have a simple answer to put your mind at rest. Hope he is ok x

This sounds very familiar to me as a long time migraine sufferer. I have a sensitivity to light at times and find surroundings can become incredibly surreal, surfaces tilted and spatial awareness distorted. Watching TV, Ipad, computer monitor screens too often or for extended periods can really trigger the above. I would add that I don't suffer the traditional 'migraine with aura', it comes in many, many forms. For me it's my brains wiring and family history why I have them. I have tinted glasses having seen specialist optometrist to help when light sensitivity is a problem and I've found them to be an absolute life saver (waiting to get tinted contacts too). My other triggers that can affect my vision are lack of sleep/too much sleep and low blood sugar if I've missed a meal. It's a really fine balance.

Hope this may be of some use to you op.

Thanks biscuit - that is useful. Do you migraines go really quickly too? DS has these feelings for about a minute then he's fine again.

My migraines tend to last quite a while but I get visual disturbances without the full blown migraine a lot on a daily basis. These can be brief like your son or last hours.
