Silent reflux

Fozziebearmum2be · 08/12/2013 15:19

I have a 9 week old with silent reflux. She is on Losec Mups which made an amazing difference, but as the dosage is based on weight then we're having a major dip...as she's increased in weight by 11 oz.

Planning to contact dr tomorrow to discuss new dosage, but wondered how people have managed the dosage.

I was thinking about weighing her weekly and then contacting dr whenever she increases by 1/2 pound, but interested in how anyone else has managed this?

I do this with my DS's ranitidine, I just increase the dose as he puts on weight. However I'm a children's nurse so I know how. But yes it will need increasing with weight so discuss it with your GP.

Omeprazole is not as weight dependent as ranitidine; what dosage is your LO on at the moment?

IHave you done anything elae differently recently?

We had jabs last Tuesday, that's the only thing I can think of. Sickness started before then though, but horrible screams have been since..

She's put on 11oz since the dosage was prescribed (now is 11lb 11oz)?

Jabs seem to be awful for reflux for some reason. Are you bf or ff? either way a dairy free trial might help to see if it is food allergy related.
Ds2 at just over 2 has thankfully started to outgrow his SR but still can't eat dairy, soya, wheat or eggs.
If you're on Facebook there are some great support groups or try Little Refluxers discussion group.

I'm bf, already been dairy & soya free for 3 weeks so reckon it should have gone by then?

8 wk jabs were Tues, I would have thought any effects would have gone by now - How long would you think it may last?

Her weight has increased from 11lbs to 11lbs 11oz so she has increased quite a bit...

I think they say 2 weeks to be out of your system and a bit longer for your baby. Effects of jabs lasted weeks for us sorry!
Great that she's putting on weight only trouble is it means it's harder to get your situation taken as seriously as a baby who is falling down the centiles. The only way we got progress was to stump up to see a private gastro paediatrician then the GPs were forced to listen. Sorry I had quite a rough time so am a bit bitter at how we were treated by the NHS but we're seeing light at the end of the tunnel now.

I've found that... Been told she's 'thriving' far too many times, they've clearly not seen her screaming in pain. Positively I have a hv whose had 2 children with sr, and she's right behind us :) so use her when I need to.
