Diarrhoea in 7 month old

Dd has had a cold now for 3-4 weeks. I've been to the drs a couple of times (mainly because she's been off her milk) (ff) and they were very kind, but said unless she isn't producing wet nappies, then not to worry,

For the past 3 days she's had diarrhoea.m her nappies start off reasonably solid at the beginning of the day, but by lunchtime, it's basically water with bits in it.

Dd is generally happy in herself, if a little grumpy, but on the whole, lively. I'm trying to give her plenty of milk, and sticking to baby cereal/baby rice/porridge fir meals yo get some more milk into her and keep it simple food-wise.

Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I take her back yo th gp? The dr showed me how to press my finger on her chest and release to see if she is dehydrated, and I'm pretty sure she isn't. I offer her a sippy cup of water at meals, but she's more interested in it as a teething aid (which she's also suffering with)

Any advice welcome!

The nappies could well be down to teething. Teething nappies can be horrendous.

I don't think it warrants an appointmebt but it might be worth giving the dr a call and seeing what they say.

Ahh - I wondered about that. She had 1 red cheek yesterday and 2 today. She's been teething for a couple of months, but it seems to have cranked up a gear (it's the top ones, not the bottom).

I'll give the drs a call - thanks!

Hello OP.

Good idea is to keep the nappy off for a while if you can. I know its hard when they are extra messy but your poorly dc may end up with a horrendous nappy rash, which you don't need in addition.
Hope she is better soon. I would call your gp for reassurance and would recommend the usual cool boiled water to keep her liquid intake up.

I don't think it's too much to worry about provided she's drinking enough milk and your keeping an eye on what the dr showed you with regards to dehydration.

Dd used to have that for several days sometimes. Just a combo of less solids and more milk and the fact that they constantly swallow drool and the snot from their nose and the dirt and germs if everything they start chewing.

It's revolting :)

My ds had dreadful diarrhoea when teething, my dd had a dreadful bunged up sinuses when teething. As my mum said teeth are a pain in the arse when coming, a pain in the arse when going and a pain in the arse when you have them! As long as she is keeping hydrated.

Thanks all! Yes - she sniffs, swallows the snot in her nose, which makes her cough and dirty her nappy at the same time - delightful!

Thanks for the tip re nappy free time - i've been putting sudocreme on when it looks a bit red, but will layer the floor with protective layers..
