Chicken Pox dilemma

Chicken pox are currently doing the rounds at dd's nursery, there are currently more than 10 children off with it ATM. Dd is 3 and hasn't had them yet so there's every chance she could get them though there's no sign yet. The problem is we go to playgroup on a Wednesday morning and I'm wondering weather it'd be irresponsible to go. Like I said she hasn't shown any sign of being unwell but it just doesn't feel right to take her knowing she could develop them. What would everyone else do?

I probably would not take her tbh. Only because I would be worried she would into contact with a pregnant women or someone for whom chicken pox could be serious. It is difficult knowing what to do though and I don't think there is a definitive answer

That's what I was thinking. I'd feel awful if she did have it and passed it on but I feel equally as awful not taking her when there isn't actually anything wrong with her.

My DD1 was exposed to chicken pox at least 6 times before she was 3 (as in, the child she'd been playing with the day before came down with it, and going around playgroup). She didn't get it until she was almost 14 yo.

If she is not actually ill I can't see why you need to keep her off. Obviously if she was even slightly under the weather I wouldn't chance it.

I'm hoping she's like your daughter tallulah, don't get me wrong I'm not overly worried about her getting it but it'd be just our luck for her to get it over Christmas. I'll see how she is in the morning and decide from there I think.

If there is that much going around assuming the playgroup is local to the nursery then chances are it is going to end up doing the rounds there anyway. I know at least 3 local schools/nurserys have big outbreaks of chicken pox at the moment.

Unless she is showing signs of actually being ill then I wouldn't worry too much, the only thing I would probably avoid was coming into contact with anyone you knew to be immunosuppressed just incase

You can't stay in just in case they've caught something. Just keep am eye on her and if she has runny nose/ temp some kind of sign be careful then.

The vast majority of pregnant women have had cp anyway.

Decision made she was up till 3am throwing up so chances are she's either going to come out in spots or she's got a stomach bug. Either way playgroup is off. Thanks for all the advice.
