Baby scratched near eye by cat - advice please!

6.5 month old scratched this morning by our cat. Scratch above eye and just below. Had good look in eye and can't see any signs if scratch. Have cleaned, put antiseptic cream on cut above eye. Put breast milk below eye and in eye.

Cat is an indoor cat and up to date with vaccines etc.

Should I take him to Doctor or do anything else? I know to look for redness/swelling etc.

Thanks

Could be a misjudged landing. Could be a kitten playing. Could be any number of things.

Attack? Hyperbole much? Hmm

Answer me this then, would you feel the same if it was a dog?

At last, someone who sees sense Dame

I'd feel exactly the same if a dog scratched my child. My children, myself and most other members of our family are regularly half mauled by the flying whippet's claws while she is attempting to climb up us, dd2 especially, although I have little sympathy for the wee nutter as she encourages it.

Could indeed but still should be nowhere near a baby.

This happened to me as a baby at around the same age (I was allegedly tormenting the cat!) and I retain a small scar to this day. My eye is fine though.

Oh my. You ask for some medical advice and it all kicks off!

Baby's eye is fine and scratch healing nicely.

The cat did not attack my baby, they were both on bed together while I got dressed. I think as they live together they're going to need to get used to each other. Cat is great with my nieces and nephews. Cats can't distinguish been adult and baby though so doesn't know how to play softer with wee one. My sister also has raised two healthy boys with cats. I grew up with lots of cats and also made it to adulthood unscathed!

Baby has not been left unsupervised with cat (or ever for that matter, he's 6 months old!). To date cat had come off much worse off (tail pulled, fur pulled).

Thank you for all the advice. I will just be keeping a closer eye on things when they're togther. Cat is not about to he rehomed.

Hi I had the same thing happen to my baby who is 7 months. I put breast milk on it as everyone keeps telling me breast milk helps but I was wondering if it actually did help?
