Took my dd1 ( 8) to the docs, as she was showing signs of struggling to hear, been going on a few months. While there mentioned she gets excessive nose bleeds. Doc referred onto ENT consultant. I was happy with this.

2 days later she rung back and said after discussing with others she would like dd to have a blood test. I agreed and off we went. DD was great but it was not easy, her veins kept sinking once needle was in!

Doc phoned late last night saying that results had come back, 2 markers she checks for clotting was fine, but one was too high. She wants bloods done again in a month. Obviously that is xmas, I asked if after is ok, and she said no, get it done week of the 16th December. Also need it done after ENT do procedure to stop bleeding. ( burning nostril I think)

She wanted me to drop note off after consultant appointment on the 9th December, so she does what they are doing and when.

She asked whether dd was tired and bruised?
She is tired but she is tall and lanky, top set at school and dances 5 times a week, swims and does brownies! she sleeps 12 hours a night and I was not worried before doc said. She does have bruises bit like I said she is very active and also dyspraxic, so falls over thin air.

Trying not to worry but am confused. The level she said is high, does that mean her blood doesn't clot or clots too easily?

Anyone understand what I am waffling about?

Was it a d dimer test?

With her history sounds more like the blood doesn't clot easily enough .
At a complete guess there are 2 components to the clotting test- a PTT and an APTT. They measure different parts of the mechanisms the body uses to clot. This involves lots of different factors in the blood. The other thing that is needed is platelets but as your GP mentioned the clotting tests will just discuss above. Usually when either the PTT or the APTT is high the blood takes longer to clot and this with fit with nose bleeds

By itself is not enough to diagnose a clotting problem and lab errors can be made especially if she had been a little difficult to bleed.

Even if did turn out to be something sounds like it is mild - only presenting with nosebleeds compared with bleeding a lot spontaneously. There is a wide spectrum of bleeding disorders , the most common being von willebrands.

Sounds like your daughter is well so try not to worry- if is still high at next test ask for referral to haematology who will decide if there is a problem or not
