HELLO,
WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS COME ACROSS A LUMP ON BACK OF BABIES HEAD BEFORE, FEELS LIKE WATER IS UNDERNEATH. I THINK IT IS CHANGING SHAPE. ROUGHLY 1.5 INCHES WIDE AND RAISED.

SPOKEN TO DRS AND HEALTH ADVISORS NEITHER KNOWING WHAT IT IS.

MY BABY IS 10 WEEKS AND I DONT THINK SHES BUMPED HER HEAD ON ANYTHING.

SHE IS HAPPY IN HERSELF BUT I'M A BIT WORRIED AS DRS BAFFLED.

GOING BACK MONDAY IF NOT IMPROVED.

THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS/ADVICE

Ask doc to refer you to a paediatric specialist to rule out conditions such as hydrocephalus.

Hi, my friends son had something similar. It turned out to be a a tiny hairline fracture. He didnt even seen to be in pain. How long has it been there.

My nephew had this - it's caused during birth. It should go away on its own but her doc said if it didn't over the course of the couple of months then they would investigate further with an ultra sound. She had forceps and quite a difficult birth.

I think it's relatively common so not sure why your doc and hv knew nothing about it.

It won't be hydrocephalus as DS2 has this and that's caused by build up of fluid underneath the skull so you wouldn't be able to feel it in the way you described.

WE DEF NOTICED IT MONDAY COULD HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE HAND THOUGH

MY BABY WAS BORN BY C SECTION AND THIS HAS APPEARED RECENTLY
JUST WONDERING IF I SHOULD GO BK TO DRS BEFORE MONDAY AND ASK TO SEE ANOTHER DR/PAEDIATRITION OR IS IT BEST TO SEE IF IT CLEARS FIRST?

My DS had this at 10 weeks old, it was investigated in a&e and it literally was a fluid filled bump and disapated over the course of a few days. I had a a difficult birth with ventouse and forceps so it was put down to that. He was in no discomfort and didn't mind it being touched. The doctor said it is common so I'm surprised no one has been able to diagnose it for you. Obviously this is just my experience, if you have further cause for concern get you DD checked out ASAP.

Should add the bump came up overnight out of nowhere. It took about a week in all to fully go.

THE SUGGESTIONS HAVE BEEN PREVIOUS CYST (IM SURE I WOULD HAVE NOTICED)AND RUBBING HEAD ON SOMETHING....

I think seeing a paediatrician would put your mind at rest and that's the most important thing. My sister didn't notice the fluidy lump on the back of his head until after his 6 week check. My nephew was as you described your DC - happy in himself and growing normally.
