Vitamins for pre-schoolers - essential or not?

Just wanted to know what the general consensus was re giving vitamins to kids - DD is 3.5. Should I be giving her vitamin supplements? She doesn't eat a great deal, but what she does eat is on the whole ok. And she is small - 9th centile.

What do you do? And do you see it making a difference? Thx

The department of health, UK, recommends vitamin drops containing a c and d regardless of diet. See NHS.UK for details.

The ones I used are £2 a month for 4 year old Ds and he is rarely ill.

Of courser they are no "essential" or the vast majority of children would have expired by now.
As MrsPear has suggested, there may be some benefits for some children, but the vast majority reach adulthood without.

NHS updated guidelines recently and recommends Vitamin D for under 5s.

And if you have a toddler who is going through a weird relationship with food (as so many do from time to time) then a children's multivitamin might be a useful backstop.
