head lice

So last week my DD's school sent a note to inform parents that there has been a case of head lice in Infants (not even mentioning the class) and we should chekc kids. I checked my DDs head and didn't find anything. However, during the weekend I noticed her scratching her head so I went ahead and bought the Full Marks treatment and also the Nitty Gritty comb. Full treatment last night ans I found 2 lice but no nits. Changed her bedding and all towels and planning to repeat treatment on Saturday, is there anything else I can do? Do I need to wet comb everyday using conditioner? I checked her head and looks like there are no nits left but then I can't be 100% sure...

Is tea tree oil shampoo helpful at all, are there any other repellants?

And last but not least, should I tell the school? Given they just sent the announcement?

PS. I applied the treatment on my head too, and combed - just preventively - but didn't find anything.

You don't need to tell that school if they've just sent a letter out unless you want to. All they can do is send out the same letter again

All you need to do is comb through thoroughly with conditioner and the Nitty Gritty comb every two or three days for at least two weeks, wiping the comb after every stroke. This will remove and lice which have recently hatched before they become mature enough to lay new eggs. You can use the Full Marks again if you want but it won't make any difference if you comb thoroughly.

After that comb with conditioner and the Nitty Gritty routinely once a week to check for new arrivals. If you find any go back to the every two or three days again for two weeks to prevent any new hatchlings laying.

Being thorough and making it a regular part of your routine is the key.

I use the vosene tea tree shampoo on my dds but not are how well it works as oldest dd has had bits since.

I also just combed through with tea tree conditioner and gritty comb but I did it everyday for about a week or so.

I remember the first time we had them and it's not nice and I kept scratching my head and thinking they would be crawling around house but now I am not so bad.
