Poor chap (9 years old) - started new school at the beginning of the school year, so still newish.

He seems to have settled in fine, made friends, etc but caught every bug going last term, so I got called in a couple times to pick up my vomiting/spotty child.

He wasn't keen to go back to school after half term. His tummy hurts and he thinks he is going to be sick. I'm not sure if its nerves, or if her just really really unlucky. They called again today to say that he was feeling poorly and hardly touched lunch. They even commented that 'he's here a lot complaining about not feeling well...'

I've spoken to his teacher and he says that he has fitted in fine, enjoys the work and is popular. I've spoken to DS and he says that he enjoys school, likes it (and his teachers and classmates) and isn't worried about anything.

I'm not sure how to play this one...

I think I'm going to have to. It seems like tummy nerves to me. He was ok on the half term (a little constipated one day, but ok now).

He was top of his year at the last school (he coasted it) and the new school is very academic - so the kids are all pretty bright. I'm not sure where he is in the pecking order but I suspect he is still towards the top (and he is still coasting somewhat).

He got really good CAT scores (he sat them when he was sick last term) and still isn't all that happy (he got 100% in one and decided that he wanted to get 100% in them all). We don't pressurise him, or punish him for not getting top scores, but he is a bright kid - he thinks too much I suspect.

He will seem ok then when it comes to going to class, his tummy hurts. I think he is finding that there is a lot more work - but I have told him that because he is getting older, the workload does go up and reassured him that he can do it.
