We all had some sort of bug about 3 weeks ago - no idea what, DH had sore throat with it, I was wiped out and had blocked sinuses, both the DC were coughing and sniffly, and DD (nearly 7) had tummyache and a loose stomach too. We're all fine now, only DD's stomach still isn't back to normal and tonight she's been doing the most evil-smelling farts and still having some tummyache followed by loose poo. I would add she's eaten a huge amount of grapes and a large portion of pasta tonight, although that's nothing out of the ordinary!

She's absolutely normal in herself which is why I haven't really clicked that this was still going on. Any ideas? Should I get her checked out or give her Actimel for a few days and see if that helps? Should I limit her access to the grapes?!

I remember my Gp saying it can take a while for the bowel to recover after a virus/bug after all the lining of the gut has been irritated/inflamed.

I would maybe reduce fruit for a day or so to see if that makes any difference. if not and it continues much longer maybe check with the GP.

It's a good sign that she has a good appetite.

I take it poo is just loose and perhaps yellowish rather than being watery and frequent (which is more typical of diarrhoea).

That's reassuring, thank you - yes, not frequent. Will hide all the fruit and see how she gets on!

Well I didn't give her any fruit since I last posted. She's been fine. Then tonight she had a green apple and an hour later had what she calls a 'bad poo.' So I guess it's the fruit Sad. She loves fruit.

Maybe try bananas. They are supposed to bung you up but it might just be a myth.

When mine have eaten a lot of fruit their poos are much looser, particular my youngest who drinks more and has looser stools anyway.
