Cut to the white of the eye...

DD (3) got shot in the eye earlier by a Nerf Gun :( (don't get me started on that...)

she was in a lot of pain for a good half hour, couldn't really open her eye for more than a split second, but she was distracted after a while, and it then calmed down, gave her calpol etc and didn't think much more of it... until just now putting her to bed she's got what I can only describe as a cut to the white of the eye - as in a kind of tiny gape in it, about 2-3 mm long about 2 mm from her pupil. It looks horrid. I have no idea if this is something I need to worry about and go back and hoik her out of bed and take her to A&E. Or whether I should wait till the morning and take to the doctors. Or whether it's fine and will heal by itself.

Anyone got any vague idea or seen similar?

You need to take her to a&e tonight, at the very least she needs antibiotic eye drops until seen by eye specialist.

Sorry but if she has a corneal tear or abrasion she needs seen tonight for a patch and drops. Or phone OOH if you want to check with them.

Agree, I would be taking her out of bed now and taking her to a&e

thanks all - sorry I didn't reply. I rang 111 and they said A&E immediately, so I did that. Was there until 2am... she's ok after treatment and I just need to give her drops 4x a day for the next few days and hopefully it'll sort itself. Missed her pupil by a 1mm. Still feel sickened. She'll be ok, but a real wake up call. No more Nerf guns allowed.

Good, glad you got it seen. A long night but important that it was treated.
