Hi everyone,

Sorry to be a pain but Im getting really concerned about my DD. She has her 2nd set of jabs on Tuesday and didn't get any temperature but was a bit sleeoier than usual. Today is Friday and she is still VERY sleepy (which is very unlike her as her day naps used to be max 30mins), and what worries me even more is that she is refusing to eat. She had two good feeds at 4:30am and 6:30am after which she just fell to sleep right away and then got up at 10am this morning and just screamed when I tried to feed her. May I add she is EBF, and she has now drifted off to sleep AGAIN.

I just dont know what to make of it, because if there was anything that would soothe her before, it was her feeds. She is also stil producing a reasonable amount of wet nappies as well as about 2-3 dirty nappies a day which are slightly runnier and darker than usual.

I just dont know what to make of it all. I have booked an appnt with GP for Monday morning but I just need some reassurance till then as I am feeling really low as well as alone in it all what with DH coming home around 8pm from work everyday and me being by myself until then.

Any advice or opinions will be highly be highly appreciated, thank you.

P.S. while I was writing this she woke up and had a sleepfeed (first one after 5hrs), burped and is now sleeping again on my shoulder...

Forgot to add, she didnt have any temp at all, and when awake she is alert and smily as normal, but it doesnt last long till she gets grumpy and falls asleep.

I am no expert but I do know that when my two were little I'd just think I'd got them sussed and they'd completely change their sleep and eating patterns! Could it be that she's having a grow, they need so much sleep when they're little and I'd find that they seemed to have sleepier days sometimes. It could be that she is needing longer naps now. Mine went through phases of sleeping for 2 hours twice a day at points.
I think if she's happy in between sleeps and has no sign of illness I'd leave her til Monday and see the gp then.

Also, if the injections had given her a nasty cold or temperature I reckon it's only been 3 days which is quite normal time to still not have quite shaken it off. She may just be sleeping off the effects of the jab still without it having caused any real symptoms. Does that make sense?!?

tiredness and fatigue happens when babies are given vaccines, it's like an autoimmune reaction, may take a few days for baby to settle

My two older ones had the worst reaction to the second set of jabs, and were similar to what you describe.

Ds reacted badly to his first set of jabs, just screaming and not focussing on anything, when he'd been a real smiley little boy before. There was a big difference in his reaction, as he didn't have the happy alert stages.

If you're worried though, do get her checked out. I regret not checking ds out more thoroughly-I saw a locum, who I think marked me out as a fussy mother. My usual GP who knows me, I suspect would have reacted differently. Ds started 18 months of illness at about 10 weeks, and I wonder whether the jabs had just brought his immunity down.

Just went to A&E after dialing 111. Doctor checked her out and in his opinion she is absolutely fine. I'm still not convinced though as I have struggled to give her a feed all day and was only successful 4 times. Now a ebf baby I'm pretty sure that isn't enough, however she has had more than 6 wet nappies today as well as 3 dirty nappies (two runny one green).
I'm still seeing my GP on Monday, I'd rather be on the safe side as she isnt her usual self.
Btw, I know what you mean about fussy mum, the look the dr gave me tonight... My gosh... Still, I'd rather be safe than sorry
