and does not have much enamel on his bottom teeth. I am wondering if I need a second opinion as since I've been with this new dentist on the NHS I just don't feel they are as forthcoming with any treatment or preventative measures. My dentist has said his adult teeth are fine and he doesn't need any fluoride varnish. Ds is 9 and has to have a filling in one of his molars next week. I am concerned about his bottom teeth as they seem very yellow and thin enamel the dentist even agreed on the last visit but said they were fine today when asked about fluoride varnish. I mean is there a reason not to have the coating do the negatives outweigh the positives???

I thought that in some areas they even visit primary schools to increase fluoride varnish uptake.
The only negatives I am aware of:
-possible discolouration of teeth

  • unsuitable for children with plasterallergy and some other medical conditions.

Maybe change to another dentist or ask for molars to be sealed?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I think I may as I he hasn't gave me reason for why not except that he doesn't need it but he has just had a filling in his baby tooth, and the dentist did agree his enamel was thin hence why his bottom teeth look yellow slightly confused :-/
