Night sweats and leg pains

My nearly three year old has been complaining of intermittent leg pain for a few months now. He has also started having night sweats. Rather stupidly I googled night sweats, leg pain and toddler together and most responses came back regarding cancer.

He has a doctors appointment on Monday but has anyone experienced this when it wasn't cancer?I know that it's highly unlikely so I'm looking for other explanations. I think I'm also looking for truthful answers as I'd like to know how much of a pushy mother I should be if I'm fobbed off.

I would take him to a and e too. Hopefully it's nothing much, but if it is, EVERY day counts. Good luck.

Hi sorry I've not updated, I don't seem to get on here much. It has taken till February for us to get an x-ray, blood tests etc. we are waiting for those but in the mean time they are sending us to physio and to have inserts put in his shoes.

I keep thinking it can't be urgent if it has take this long but then think they have no idea of knowing its urgent or not until the results are in. I have argued my way to getting these tests done and I'm hoping the docs will come back with an I told you so soon.

I just have a niggle:-(

How terrible that you have been kept waiting and worrying all this time. When did he have his bloods done. If it was Friday or before then they would have been in touch if there was anything serious in his FBC. That it has not got worse over this time is somewhat reassuring.

How did it all go?

Hi I'm really scared I have a 2 year old son and he always seems to have comes or runny noses he also complains when active about his stomach hurting and sometimes that his leg or foot hurts. I have done the norm and googled it and now I'm scarying myself stupid over the search results. He sometimes sweats at night but no fever. Please can someone help

Carleytink · 01/06/2018 22:28

Also he is fine and eating and drinking ok and will be playful during the day just the werid times like when he got out of bed this morning complaining about his foot and limping on it. But was fine up until bed then starting limping again

@Carleytink - all Google searches for groups of symptoms lead to cancer. Running noses and being hot at night are not really symptoms at all - they are things that every toddler will do. Occasional tummy pains are also very common. By all means see your GP about this for an objective view but you should relax in the meantime.

A limping toddler should however be seen in A&E today to exclude a hip infection. It almost never is a hip infection but they need treating urgently when they do occur. Call 111 if you are uncertain.
