He had op on Tuesday as a day case. He ate all the food given to him immediately afterwards, but on Wed and Thurs he only nibbled at two slices of cheese on toast, one and a half fruit purees, half a packet of crisps, some apple cake and a biscuit. Most of those were so he could have nurofen which I haven't given today as he isn't complaining of any pain. He's not eaten anything today, just drunk a little squash- I keep offering food, but even his favourites he is refusing he just says he's not hungry. He's 4 and generally has a fairly varied diet and eats most things. In all other respects he seems well, the wound looks healthy and he's not got a fever.

My DS had a GA last Thursday and seemed so unwell following it. He has hardly done anything other than sleep for the past seven days. Today is the first day that he seems a little brighter. As long as he is drinking plenty your DS will be fine although if it goes on longer than a week might be worth checking with the GP. Is he complaining of a sore throat which might put him off eating.

So long as he's drinking don't worry too much just yet. Poorly animals usually go off their food - I'm not sure but seems like its a natural reaction during a healing process (digestion takes effort), so may not be specifically related to the GA.

Thank you that's reassuring. He had an op @ 6 months but I was still bf so didn't really notice any difference. He says his throat isn't sore at all. He just doesn't seem hungry. Hope your ds is feeling better soon lateSeptember, ds seems fine other than the food. Planning to send him back to nursery on Monday as long as he is eating by then.

I don't feel much like eating for a couple of days after I've had an airway tube removed, I feel lousy for days.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as he's taking plenty of fluids.
