Blocked nose for 5 weeks. Normal?

My 12 week old DS has had a blocked nose for nearly 5 weeks now. I don't think he has a cold. He's had a few days where he has been sneezing and been a bit snotty but definitely not for the whole 5 weeks.

I've been googling (I know!) and allergies has come up alot.

I've been concerned about his nappies for a while too, as he has had quite a few green ones and they are occasionally mucusy or watery ect. I hadn't really connected the two issues but I'm starting to think they're not a coincidence?

Should I take him to the doctors? He's ebf.

I think the accepted guidance is that if any new condition persists for more than two weeks you should see a doctor.

So yes, take him.

Yes, my first thought was also food allergies - especially in conjunction with mucus nappies. My dc3 has allergies (dairy, soya, egg, nuts, fish, etc) and presented as v stuffy and blocked up (nasally) as well as having blotchy spotty skin and reflux (compounded by dairy allergy).

I've just rang the doctor and we've got an appointment for tomorrow.

The mucus in the nappy isn't every time. I think he's had it about 5/6 times? Maybe more. They are quite bubbly too. Sorry for tmi but he has a lot of wind, which smells quite bad. He is quite sicky too. Would that be connected?

Sorry for the rambling, im typing one handed while bf.

Well I took DS to the GP today. They just said it's one of those things and asked me what I thought they should do about it. Not really sure what to do now...

In such cases, consulting a doctor is important.
There are a number of home remedies, but you can opt for them once you are sure that the child's condition is not that bad.

So, consult a doctor.
