Cut on forehead so worried about scaring

My 4 yr old daughter cut her head open on Sunday. It is a verticle cut just above her eyebrow and is approx 2 inches long. We took her to A&E and it was glued. It seems to be healing well but we are so worried that it will leave a big scar. I have bought a silicone cream called Kleo-cote that I will start applying once it has healed. Do I have to accept that she will have a big scar on her face?

My dd had a deep cut through her eyebrow at 6m old. The hospital completely mis-managed it and didn't glue it, they wanted to give her a GA and stitch it. After starving her overnight on two occasions a week apart and two separate anaesthetists refusing to do it, she ended up with it left to heal as it was, we were told she could have it revised later in life. It is a fatter scar than it should be, a white line through her eyebrow, but really fairly insignificant. It is visible but not ugly. We used a silicone gel recommended by a dermatologist, it is called Dermatix, and I think it made the difference by keeping the scar flat.
So I think your dd's scar, glued properly and then with silicone gel used should virtually disappear in a year or two. (You need to keep it protected from the sun for three years, that is another thing to remember. Smear thick sunblock on at the first sign of sun.)

DS aged three was bitten by a dog 6 months ago and had two approx inch long lacerations in the centre of his cheek. They could not suture or glue due to risk of infection so all head was steristrips. I researched and as a previous poster recommended dermatix silicone gel is clinically effective at reducing scarring, we used this and DS scars are not immediately noticeable now and will likely fade more once the inflammatory phase is complete. You do have to be committed to using I though, needs to be on 23 hours a day, it's expensive but you only need tiny amounts per application. Good Luck and please don't worry,

I used vitamin e oil on chicken pox scars and it definitely made them better. It's cheap in super drug x

Thanks so much for your comments, I found them so reassuring. We took the steri strips off on sunday and it has healed really well. After your recommendations of the Dermatix I have ordered some online am using the Kleo Cote whilst waiting for it to arrive. Thanks again.
