My son is 2.5 years old.

He had a bout of constipation which has happened before, we have Movicol for him which works well.

He passed a particularly large hard stool about 3 weeks ago, every poo since then has been agonising. His poohs are very soft now, think baby poo. So not runny but barely formed and easy to pass.

But the pain he is experiencing is beyond what Ive seen of him before. It was the hours before each poo, he'd be unable to sit and screaming that his bottom hurt then just before the poo came he would be screaming blue murder it was like trying to coach someone through labour it was awful.

However now, things seem worse, hes getting waves of pain from the second he wakes to the second he goes to bed whether he is due a poo or not.

He isnt bunged up, the stools arent hard, yet his bottom is constantly hurting him. It creeps up on him, he will be happily playing and all of a sudden he will let out a squeal and grab his bottom.

Does this still sound like a fissure? Its been going on a long time it feels, and absolutely no improvement.

What has the doctor said about it? When did you last see the GP? It sounds really horrid for your DS. I'd take him back to the GP and perhaps ask for a referral.

We saw her at the start of the week. Hes seeing a paediatrician at the end of the month for an array of other issues.

I had a fissure after i had DD, it was agony and at its worst i could barely sit down and it hurt almost constantly. It would also wake me up in the night so does sound similar to what your DS is experiencing in that it suddenly starts hurting. However i would go back to the GP to make sure.
