Hello, I have turned to mumsnet as I have been on the internet and saw many posts on a different site based in the US .... I would like to hear from uk mums having the same problem.
My son is 7, was toilet trained at a usual age of around 2, had the normal accidents for a start. Recently he has started wetting in the day, not only at school but at grandma's and at home. I have tried all sorts of things, he doesn't seem to mind either!
He is never soaked and it's rarely on his trousers, just in his pants, so can't be that much. I have tried talking to teachers and letting him go to the loo at school outside of break times, he is still having accidents. I went to the doctors and they guessed it was because he was constipated, he has had treatment for this and it has not improved. He is so sorry when he comes home and it's starting to effect his whole life, he told me he is fed up of wetting himself, which is making me think he can't help it.
Is it possible for this to just have developed? I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced the same sort of thing? Many thanks.

Go back to the doctors, it sounds as if he has an infection, and what ever you do, don't get angry, annoyed or frustrated, that will add to the situation.

just make sure he always has plenty of clean clothes to change into.

Thanks, I have booked an appointment, I took a sample the last time and he hadn't got an infection. The doctor I saw was fairly quick to assume it was because of school, I know my Son and it didn't seem to matter that I didn't agree. I am seeing a different doctor this time.

ask for a referral to an enuresis nurse - they are very helpful IME

I'm sure you have already looked at psychological issues, but has anything traumatic happened to him recently? This can often be the cause of day wetting.
