Baby with an orrible cold

My 3MO DD has the same nasty cold as me, I had a sore throat and then a stuffy nose, one day of mild fever and now I'm coughing a bit but feeling much better. She has had a very stuffy nose for three days but has been sleeping and eating fine, abd no fever. Last night her sleep was disturbed by her stuffy nose though. I have one of those little things to suck snot out of babies' noses but what else can I do to help her feel better? And when should I take her to the doctor? She has had a cough since three days ago too, it sometimes has a bit of a metallic ring to it. I don't want to overdoctor her but I don't want to underdoctor her either, wee thing. She is asleep now next to me propped up on a beanbag :(

Saline drops to loosen the snot in her nose before sucking it out. Karvol or olbas oil in her room at night, calpol if you think she is in pain or has a fever.

Yes agree saline drops help get the snot out. We got a calpol plug in which you put a lozenge in and it releases menthol vapours through the night and is also a night light. Not cheap but helps when ds has a cold. About £6 I think from bigger chemists, think Karvol do one too. Try propping the top of the mpses basket or cot up so she doesn't cough so much at night.

I second the plug in- godsend for my DD (and me) last week when she was full of cold and spent one night awake every hour or so.

Saline drops are v. good for during the day and snufflebabe if needed.

I used a wedge cushion under the mattress but a folded towel would have the same effect.

If you are BF, snufflebabe higher up on your boob will help her breathe as she is feeding and she may want to feed more often (or continuously for days if she is trying to have a growth spurt at the same time i'm looking at you DD )!

Hope you're both feeling better soon, we had the same last week but it didn't last long. It's horrid when they are so small and poorly but they soon bounce back!
