In DD's nappy I have just found a scrap of tin foil

It's got a bit of a pointy edge to it. Possibility of internal damage? The poo it was embedded in is normal.

What shall I do?

if it was flimsy foil like you get on a roll at home I would just monitor her myself. If it was tough foil like from a cherry bakewell (IYKWIM) I might check with the GP. Risk is likely to be very tiny though.

If it's just a bit of foil, I'm sure everything is fine. Check the poo for blood for a few days before you panic.

Thankyou! It was kind of thin, circular, the stuff you get on packaging for tablets (I'm betting hay fever, and I'm blaming ds2!).

She seems fine, am watching for blood. I know they can swallow all sorts and it just turns up at the other end, but this is a bit sharp, and I have an active imagination!

I'm asking here because its quicker than nhs direct and you lot are a darn sight more knowledgable! Grin

I once found a very small screw in DS's nappy. We were having renovations done at the time, he was fine.

Oh Life! I've found readable bits of paper, pebbles and once a little rubber calculator button (a '4' incidentally) they're all soft or rounded things hence my tin foil panic. A screw though?? Yipes

I thought the calculator button would have been a number '2'.

I was more concerned about him inhaling it TBH although I only knew after the fact. My FIL (who was a very experienced GP) told me that swallowing open safety pins or batteries were the things you needed to seek immediate medical advice for. He said that providing it had gone down without any trouble it would almost certainly pass through harmlessly.

This was after I phoned him in a panic when DD swallowed a plum stone. They're all grown up now so they obviously survived.
