Evening only constipation - is this even possible

DS has had intermittent constipation for a few weeks now. Fine during the day, goes to the toilet regularly and normally. But then about half an hour after he's gone to bed, gets up and sits on the toilet howling and wailing saying he is constipated. Next morning - back to normal. So we assumed it was bedtime delaying/attention seeking. Should I be worried as he insists he is constipated? I will take him to the docs if I need to but I suspect they'll just say make sure he eats more fibre and fail to see that in general he is not constipated!

So your DS poo's regulary in the day and at night? What do his poo's look like? Have you checked them on the 'poo chart?'

My DS1 suffers from constipation if his diet doesn't have enough fibre in it and his tummy aches would occur when he went to bed but they are genuine and not him pulling my leg.

The Dr's will ask about what their poo looks like and also feel around their tummy so might be worth a check up?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_stool_scale

this is the chart about poo. I would ask him (how old is he?) to let you check his poo for a few weeks when you can and see.

Perhaps keep a food/poo/tummy ache diary for few months and see if you can spot a pattern.

Does he have a good diet with fibre? I find adding in things like dried apricots ( he has 3 a daY) and a probiotic help with my DS.

Without reading the bottom bit I picked type 4
That's my boy and his perfect poos!

Is he having enough fluid? Or eating too close to bedtime so he gets the urge only when in bed? Agree some dried apricots work wonders but also lots of fluid throughout the day.

He might have worms???? Could be making his bum sore / uncomfortable and its always worse at night. Try and get a torch and have a look when he's sleeping - they're tiny little bastards, just look like white cotton thread.

Is he having anything that could give him wind?

I know that a lot of dairy will give DD wind.
