so my little girl has been displaying symptoms since birth I nearly died while pregnant due to septacimia and was given lots of antibiotics and painkillers so am now worrying this is what's causing it she's been under lots of doctors since birth due to very slow development movement wise and has no speech what so ever at a year old only screams and coos no giggles or babbling. they have now noticed her left leg isnt right said its very stiff and doesn't move properly so they have now refffered her to as specialist to decide if its cp or not. what symptoms did your children display? I will love her no matter what so I'm prepared if it is cp I'm just wondering how they saw it in your children and did it affect the speech ? new here so be nice!

Have reported the post to mumsnet to hopefully get it moved for you, there is a wonderful group of parents/grandparents of children with cerebral palsy on the other topic.
There are two main threads with lots of chat and info about children with cp- have a read and hopefully others will be able to help you too.

Meant to add my dd has cp but is more physically disabled and never had any speech problems, although did struggle to feed initially.

My little girl is 18 months, 3 months prem. cp is such a broad spectrum. My dd ear,y signs from about 6 months were not rolling, sitting, unable to prop on tummy, High tone in legs and arms, quite stiff and people would comment on how strong she was, also brisk knee reflex, slight clonus few beats in ankle.
Hope you get some answers, the not knowing is unbearable, but with time it gets better.

thank you I know that's the thing I just want to know now. she was born at 36 so other were a few risk factors for it, the prem thing, my health plus the medicines they were piling into me they reasuured me it wouldn't cause harm but the day of my c section I found out that wasn't true! x

Have you seen a consultant? The best advice I was given was push, push, push for everything. Do not be fobbed off. Do not accept when they say 'let's wait and see'. If not already, request a physio referral, SALT, portage,. We get all this and we do private therapy too. The earlier you can start, the better and if she turns out to be fine then all the better. Good luck!
