Getting sick only at night

About once every couple of months DD2 (2yo) will get sick at about 10 or 11pm. She'll continue to get sick and/or not be able to hold any fluids down until about 1am, at which point she'll settle down and sleep relatively well (usually a couple of wake ups for a cuddle). The next day she's off her food a bit but generally in great form with no other symptoms.

She often has a runny nose/cold when it happens, but then she frequently has a cold without it happening. She has food allergies but there's no indication of her having had anything containing them.

I'm at a bit of a loss. It's extremely distressing for her, exhausting for me and I never know whether I should be keeping her home from daycare or not (I always have up to now, but considering she's fine the next day & if it related to the phlegm maybe it's not entirely necessary provided she's in good spirits)

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm doubtful it could be a series of bugs as it happens so often and nobody else seems to get sick, and I'm beginning to be a little concerned that there might be something else going on that I'm missing.

We had this with DD at a similar age. I never really got to the bottom of it and to be honest, I'd forgotten about it until I saw your post. We had it on and off for a few months then never happened again.

I also put it down to phlegm as DD often had a runny nose/cold when it happened she is one of those snotty nosed kids I despised before I had DD and often the food was undigested and I wondered if she'd been pigging out at nursery and it was sitting heavy in her stomach in bed, hence the sickness.

I'd keep an eye on it but if you are concerned it won't hurt to take her to dr to get it checked out.

Allergy to something she ate during day? Turns out My dd2 has allergy to fish- couldn't understand why she was sick on a Friday night (and occasionally other times) until worked out fish on a Friday at nursery link. Had no idea and neither did the drs. ps I am the daughter of a fisherman!
