Insoles - where do you get shoes???

My 7yo daughter has insoles that she can't wear because we can't find the shoes to fit. They have like a heel on them and quite rigid. We can't find girls shoes that they don't stick out of or make her stick out of, other than DM style which she refuses to wear - she's a proper girly girl. We've done the tour - two town centres, Clarks, Gordon Scott, you name it!

She has her old ones but she's outgrown them now and they're not what she needs anyway.

Anyone have any ideas?

We have normal clarkes shoes bought from brantano. Trainers however are skater shoes - flat insoles and space in the shoe - they accommodate the insoles really well.

We were told my 8 year old has one of the worst cases of flat feet and over pronation the podiatrist had seen.

I have found getting shoes without insteps the best way forwards really.

All the Clark's ones were too low and the insole stuck out before she put her foot in. We've done Clarks, Gordon's and Brantano. They look like the sole of a shoe with a low heel and the top taken off.

Same as here then. I guess we've been lucky as we found a pair of clarkes brogues in brantano that were a great fit with the insoles in.

Might be worth calling the podiatry team up again?

She's seeing orthotics again soon. One shop has suggested that orthotics can get shoes made, but if they can why wouldn't they?

She has high arches but hypermobile feet so she walks flat. Trait passed down from her dad/ nan/ great-nan! I have the problem in one foot... The doctor checked several times because she couldn't believe I only have it one! My knees also bend backwards which she was also amused with.

Have you looked at vivo barefoot? I only suggest it as think there is no instep in them?

We buy Ricosta at the moment as they don't have much instep. The shop assistant said most of their shoes have insoles which are designed to be removed and washed so wearing the shoe's own insole is optional, giving you more space for the special insole.

I can't find suitable trainers for PE for love nor money though! The independent shoe shop has said they'll order in a pair that they think might be ok but DS has had to go back to school without them.

Hush Puppies are great for insoles, as they come with removable ones. Two of my kids, plus me have full insoles, and another has a metatarsal insole.

There's an independent shop near us where they hand make shoes to fit your spec, including orthotics. It's called Chuckles in Exeter in case that's any help.

Going to have to start taking the insoles out in shops! Not sure why we didn't think of that as it's always a problem with the kids taking them out.

Looking at all the links now, thanks all
