Teething 'cold'?

Hi all, my DS is 5 1/2 months old and seems to be teething (has been for a while). The last 10 days or so he seems to have developed a very horrible 'blocked nasal' sound but there is no actual discharge. He is also playing/tugging one of his ears. Is there such a thing as a teething 'cold' or do you think I should take him to see the doc?
I am using Boots 'natural decongestant' drops, raised one end of the cot and we sleep with the window open a little as our bedroom is always too warm for sleeping (unless its winter) but nothing seems to be helping?! Look forward to hearing your suggestions :)

Some babies get colds when they are teething, but as their immune systems are so immature at this age, they get a lot of colds and it can just be a coincidence.

Is he feeding ok? The reason I ask is that when DD was a baby she had a blocked nose and refused to feed. I took her to the GP who prescribed some decongestant drops which were brilliant and worked straight away.

The ear-tugging could be due to teething, but it also could be due to an earache. How is he in himself? If he is happy and his usual self then this is likely to be just teething as earache will make them cry.

I think if you are worried you could get him checked at the GP - you know best whether he doesn't seem quite right to you.

Good luck - hope that helps a little.

Hi, thanks for your reply! He is feeding and being himself other than wanting to bite/chew/rub his front bottom and top gums and this horrible blocked nasal passage. I think I'll take him even if the doctor can only prescribe some drops etc!
