Nits help

Probably being overly paranoid but wanted some advice. I was at a soft play with my 10 month old this morning - he was just in the baby bit so not in direct contact with any other kids. As I was carrying him later I found a tiny sesame seed coloured bug in his hair which I think may have been a head louse. I killed it straight away but it had probably been on his head up to a couple of hours. What are the chances of it being just a lone one and not having had a chance to lay eggs? I couldn't find any more in his hair but worried I should prepare for an infestation!

I'm afraid if you've seen on there are probably more. Best thing to do is fill his hair with conditioner and nit comb him every other day for two weeks. Will kill any infection if there is one and will stop one if there isn't.

Good luck x

Tbh I've looked at pics and now I don't even know of what I found was a head louse - I'm new to all this parenting stuff! I just don't know!

Is the conditioner essential?

tricksybaby200 · 23/08/2013 21:42

It makes the comb go through easier. It's narrower than a fine tooth comb. You need to do it section by section and the conditioner stops it pulling.

Oh good. As I can't stand conditioner and don't want the stuff near me or my children unless it was absolutely vital.
