One year old has been vomiting up her dinner and pm milk - anyone know why??

Hi there. My one year old daughter has vomited up the entire contents of her tummy four times in the last month. This has been spread over a few weeks so I don't think it's a tummy bug, and she is showing no other signs of illness.

Each time it's the same - she eats her dinner fine around 5:30/6:00 and has her bedtime milk (I'm still breastfeeding) around 7:30. Then, about a min or two after she comes off the breast she pukes up a huge amount of her dinner and milk. She cries a tiny bit, I think just from the shock of vomiting, and then seems perfectly happy (and once she tried to eat a bit of the undigested food - eeeek gross!!!!)

She does have some food allergies (dairy, egg, sesame and peanuts) but I haven't exposed her to any of those - and always what she has had for dinner is something she has had several times before no problem.

Anyone have any advice?? I'm hoping its just that she has over eaten and this is normal??

Thank you!!

Have you tried earlier tea? More time to digest?

Also have you kept a food diary?

My DD regularly threw up her milk until she was about 3 months old, when it stopped quite suddenly. It was over-eating, I believe.

Over the last couple of weeks she has done this again - except she's 18 month old and it happens when she coughs after a meal (it doesn't happen every time, mind)!

It's very frustrating and gross but seems to be normal. Like yours, she doesnt enjoy the experience but is always fine after and has also tried to eat her vomit.

The main thing is how she seems otherwise - no fever, happy and healthy otherwise etc.

Vomit is really hard to get off clothes if not dealt with immediately - FYI. :-)

Thanks both

Glowfrog- my daughter also used to throw everything up when she was younger. We figured out it was a reaction to dairy and it cleared up as soon as I stopped eating dairy (we are breastfeeding). So maybe there is a connection. Vomiting is WAY worse once baby is on solids!!!

CreatureRetorts - actually today she had a late dinner (6:00) so maybe that is an issue. I'll try having a bit more space between dinner and bedtime milk but that will be quite hard since I'm going back to work next week and am going to have to move her dinner back a bit. Sigh....maybe I can use it as a reason not to go back?! I haven't kept a diary but I'm quite careful with her food as she does have known allergies. Each time it's been something she has had loads of times before.

My otherwise well DD puked from over eating a few times. I'm not sure how we knew it was over eating but it happened at nursery too and they thought it was over eating so didn't make me pick her up early.
