Recurrent threadworms

A few years ago was chatting to a pal about DD who at the time was having nightly episodes of a sore 'mini' and the only way it used to be relieved was warm baths. Always happened at night, GP ran some swabs, no thrush. Friend suggested could be threadworms, as at night they travel and can reach the vagina boak

Right enough the next poo exam I did, she was crawling with them double boak. Over the last 2 years I'd say she suffers 6-8 weekly. Have taken her to walk in as last night we had another episode.

I'm stringent on hand washing (am HCP so a bit OCD actually about this!) talked about nail biting, all bedding gets washed weekly on a very hot wash. Wiping front to back etc. you get me.

We've all got treatment again, but I'm wondering if there's any natural treatments she could have that acts as a natural deterrent? I've got some acidophilus powder that I used for the baby after a stomach bug I'm wondering if that would be useful.

Hints and tips would be appreciated :-)

When my daughter was younger she used to get them lots. Initially we got the solution I think it was for us all to take and then again in a couple of weeks. Next time she got it we had to get some pink powder to put in drink for her, it was vile, she threw up trying to drink it.

Lovely woman in Boots told me that that stuff only stuns them not kills them and suggested something else, probably a tablet, that actualy kills them and to make sure she wears fresh knickers at night so she doesn't re-infect herself from pyjama bottoms etc. Obviously with good hand washing, she said she is perhaps just prone to them.

She did still get them but not has much.

Towels need to be washed on hot wash too.

Look on www.patient.co.uk/threadworms

Good bit about the infection and hygiene measures.
