When DS aged 2 wees his foreskin fills up like a balloon, then deflates as it comes out into the potty... Is this normal?!

This happened to my DS. We saw a paediatrician (not why we were seeing him) who said just to gently pull back the foreskin when he was in the bath to loosen it. He said if it was a problem they don't anything to it until they're 5 anyway.

No! Don't pull it back! You can cause pain/damage. The ballooning is completely normal.

Also completely normal to have a non retracting foreskin until well into the teens. Usually fixes itself during puberty. As long as it isn't causing any problems (infections etc) then just let it be. DS1 has a non retracting foreskin at age 7. Hth :)

Does his wee dribble out or is it coming out at a normal rate? This happened to my son when he was 4 and he had to be circumcised because he had phimosis. It started just inflating a bit but then it got worse and he was in a lot of pain. He had to have surgery straight away. Take him to the Dr just to be sure it's normal. It can be treated with steroids and is only treated with surgery as a last resort.

It seems to come out at a reasonable rate, but he does often seem uncomfortable when he wees and sometimes objects quite dramatically to going on the potty. Then again could just be general toddler contrariness!
Am thinking a check up would be a good idea...

It could be balantitis?
