My daughter was 7 when she had her appendix out, they told us it was very badly infected and they were right to do it under an emergency.
She had her operation on the Monday night, was generally okay in herself on the Tuesday (although didn't get out of bed other than for the toilet). However, on the Wednesday she was being sick (and they felt it was due to all the medication being pumped into her system), and then on Thursday she came out in a rash. She hardly eat anything, so I was starting to worry and I I wanted her to come home to recuperate. On Friday, the rash was no worse and the doctor discharged her. As soon as she got home, she eat more in two hours than she'd eaten all week, she suddenly seemed determined to move around more even though she was uncomfortable and was sat up playing in the living room. I know it's hard in the days that follow, but they do pick up.
We were told to keep her off school two weeks, and the first four weeks after that she maybe really tired and to allow her to go part-time. She wasn't allowed to do PE or go on the playground for the first six weeks. School were absolutely fine about this and about ten girls in her class were brilliant, giving up their lunchtime to keep her company in reception.
If your daughter has any friends who would be willing to come and watch a DVD in the hols, have tea with her, I think that will help pick her up. My daughter really enjoyed having visitors.
Hopefully she will start to feel better soon. I'm sure you are at the end of your tether with hospital visits and just want things back to normal. You soon find out who your friends are at times like this.
