She fell of a grassy ledge 2 days ago, I guess about just over a meter down? I say just over, as it was a little further than DD's own height of around 120cm (approx). She had been swinging on a tall skinny branch of a weeping type tree which then pinged back and she stepped back, then disappeared! She was not too close to the ledge but as she stepped back she stepped into a hidden grassy bit that was not actually ledge, just grass and fell.
I ran over as she peered up, and she said her back and stomach hurt. She couldn't remember if she landed on her front or her back; it clearly frightened her so we had a big cuddle and I checked her over. He back pain subsided, as did her stomach, no marks or bruises, and it seemed she was somewhat winded. She was then fine, running around, saying her hip hurt but she was getting on with it. As we walked to the car later, about 30 mins walk, she did this fine. From time to time she said her back hurt, and occasionally said she had a funny feeling down her leg (but, I have a back problem and I know she likes to 'empathise' so I tried not to put my own spin on that) and then that pain seemed to localise into her hip.
Yesterday she had a little bit of back and neck pain, nothing significant, but complained of a painful hip and by the evening she was uncomfortable with it.
This morning she said she could feel it hurting 'but only a little bit'. We have been out and running about and from time to time she has winced but it has not stopped her moving, but as the afternoon has worn on she has complained of sharp pain in her hip when she moves it. I got her to move it around and identify where the pain is and it is at the top of her hip (and also still into her back a little) and it doesn't really hurt when she lifts her knee up toward her chest, but does a lot when she places it back down. So when she walks the downward movement hurts as does rotating it. It also hurts if she lies down and bends her legs in the opposite direction. Some pain in her leg too.
She is mobile, moving around fine and not complaining constantly about pain, but then she will suddenly go 'ow ow ow' and hop to a seat. She is not a complainer so i know that if she says it hurts, then it hurts.
Is this just bruising? It was not so much how far she fell, but more the suddenness of it and the lack of ability to brace herself for it and so she most likely landed on her side which is why she can't recall exactly how she landed/front or back.
Should I get some medical advice? She is happy enough in herself, and not in constant agony, so I am thinking it can wait until tomorrow morning?
