Hi, my daughter had a temp today, kept coming and going, no other signs of anything wrong apart from being grissly but then she went all blue and started shivering and moaning. Afterwards She was just cuddling me moaning and seemed knackered, it was horrible! when I went to the docs they said she had a rigor attack but had no obvious infection, as ear, chest, throat ok. Her temp was 39.6 at this point. Said jus need to get her temp down by calpol, ibu, which had already been giving and bath her and strip her off. She has seemed more settled this evening and temp down but am really scared its going to happen again! Has anyone elses kids had this and what was it due to and what did you do? Find it weird that there is no underlying reason! Any experience would be helped.

My daughter always had these when she was a baby/toddler and had a fever, didn't do anything special just tried to keep her cool and have regular calpol etc when she was unwell. It's just part of having a fever in some children, bit like how some experience febrile convulsions.

It's good she is a bit better. Hopefully it is just a viral infection emerging but I would consider getting her checked again.

If there wasn't any obvious cause for the temperature , you really need to rule out a urine infection or even other causes?

Hope she is better soon.

Hi all, did end up being a uti, so she is antibiotics now, she had a few more rigors but since being on antibiotics she hasn't had one. The docs are ringing on mon with full results to say what type of uti so can get right antibiotics. Was just scary seeing her having these rigors but now I know what they are I will know what to do, expect next time, thanks all
