Baby's first haircut?

OK, not exactly children's health, I know ... but I didn't know where to post and I assume everyone here has children. My dd is a year old and her hair is getting in her eyes. Surely a hairdresser will not appreciate it if I book her in for a wriggly 45 second haircut? Will I attempt it myself? What did you do?

I'd say take her to the hairdresser - it's fine and perfectly easy to do it yourself but the guilt if it's wonkey or looks a bit shite is awful. So, yeah, hairdresser.

I've always done it myself and I'm not a good hair dresser.
Pop her in her high chair in front of CBeebies with some interesting food and just trim the edges gently.

You could do a little trim when she is asleep. Before she goes to sleep comb it so it's all ready and then it will be easy to do.

Take her to a walk in barber, there was a little girl getting hers done when I took my baby DS and it is much cheaper than the hairdressers.

You could try yourself, but last time I did it ended up pathetically wonky. Do you have a kids hairdressers near you? We have one with toy cars they sit in and telly's in front of them, it keeps even a 1yo quiet for a few minutes. Or just as a local hairdresser if they can do it. At 1 I remember sitting DD on my lap while my mum and three other hairdressers tried to distract her while another one managed to trim the fringe!

The main thing is if its starting to get in her eyes, it probably needs thinning as well as cutting shorter, and that's harder to do yourself. DD's had loads of hair since she was born and it grows weird, so we've had it trimmed by a hairdresser a few times already (by 18m) and occasionally trimmed it at home in between.

I have a mobile hairdresser come to the house to do the DTs (whilst in their highchairs watching TV!) - she does mine too while they nap
