How to keep baby cool in pram in hot weather?

There may already be advice on this here but couldn't find the right search term so apologies if I'm duplicating!

We have to take month old baby out tomorrow in pram and worried about heat. We'll be outside for most of the day.

Any suggestions on keeping him cool? Even obvious ones I may have missed! Thanks ever so!

Have you got a summer babygro? We had dd in the summer and she had some with short sleeves and short legs. If not I'd just put Lo in a nappy and vest and take a sheet with you. The obvious one is use a parasol and keep the pram in the shade. Know you will probably do that but the amount of babies I've seen this week without a parasol or with the sun beating down on the back of the pram is a bit Shock

Ooh, my old boss gave me a great tip - soak a muslin in cold water and put it in the pram with the baby. They play with, wear it, etc, and it really helps to keep them cool.

A wet muslin draped over the back of the pram might help too if its very hot. If you are ff dont forget to offer the odd ounce of cooled boiled water between feeds, if you are bfing Lo just needs extra feeds Smile

Thanks! Our parasol is quite small so I'm going to take a big brolly! The wet muslin idea sounds good!

A shad-a-babe is much better than a parsol, gives them complete shade etc

We hang a cotton blanket over the front, it's lovely and cool in there and my son loves lying back and watching the light peep in through the holes.

I secure the blanket with pegs.

I've attached one of my light scarves to the top of the shade so that it drapes over the front like a pair of curtains, I can push it open slightly so DD can see me if she's awake or have them together so she's covered if asleep. It's a bright coloured one that she seems to like staring at and also nice and light so it wafts about in a breeze too. Much better than a parasol in my opinion.

Don't forget some sunscreen on as no matter how hard you try, baby will likely be in the sun sometimes, especially if you'll be him feeding outside, and a wee hat. Bring a bottle of water so you can wet a muslin if needed and I sometimes just splash some on DDs legs and feet which she thinks is hilarious and it cools her down nicely!

I also use a light, patterned cotton scarf pegged over my pram for my 3 month old. It shades him from the sun and he likes watching the colours etc.

When you hold your baby to feed, try to cover your arms etc with a muslin as skin to skin contact can be very sweaty on a hot day.
