4 year old with verruca

My 4 year old has swimming lessons for the next 2 weeks but I found a verruca on his foot.

What would be the best way to treat it? He is terrible at keeping plasters on.

Duct tape over it - easy peasy - just replace it every time it falls over. If he won't keep it on wrap it around his whole foot! It's the treatment of choice now by doctors - seriously! It worked on my daughter.

Thanks, just duct tape? No medicine or anything?

Sounds mad doesn't it!?!? It's the duct tape occlusion method - cuts off light and air. Just duct tape - any colour you like - we used bog standard silver and then special edition Union Jack and luminous pink. If you're totally committed then rub the verrucas down in the bath with a pumice before putting new tape on. I always forgot though and it still worked!

Thanks, that's fab and sounds not painful. Will give it a go!

Our doctor told us to just leave DD1 one & eventually her white blood cells would notice it & get rid of it. He was right - it literally vanished in 24 hours. He said to leave it unless it's causing pain & not to worry about covering it up for swimming, etc as the virus that causes them is everywhere & people are either susceptible to them or not.
Not very helpful / active advice but seems to be true.

We were told the same as Grace. Best to leave them unless they're causing pain. My son had a big one which literally just fell out one day and left a crater-like hole in his foot! Same happened with my daughter's. All of a sudden it just wasn't there.

Thanks! That's really interesting. I'll try not to worry about it too much. Friends were saying treat it straight away or it will spread but he doesn't seem bothered by it and it seems the treatments can be painful.

Best to completely leave it and let the body sort it out. My ds had one at this age - took a few months to go but all fine 3yrs later.

People don't seem to cover them for swimming. The main problem area is the changing room floor, not the pool itself anyway.
