Ringworm! Mortified!!

Ds is almost two and has had a round patch of dry skin for a little while and since I've been putting moisturising cream on it and its not shifted and he's developed two more patches so I rang the drs, cut a long story short its ringworm, he's got fucidin cream for it and they said it should clear up in a couple if weeks but not to share towels or clothes etc as its contagious, me as ds share baths quite often so I'm surprised I don't have it yet.

We go on holiday in less than two weeks and although if anyone spots it it looks quite like eczema so I can say its that. But can we go swimming?
Is it something I did to cause it?
How can I stop it spreading to everyone else?
How did he catch it?

He caught it from someone, you did nothing. It's an infection like any other, no shame attached. Use the cream and it will be gone in a week or so. You catch it by touching but it will probably be gone by your holiday. Once again, it's ringworm, your child has no major illnesses, just a fungal infection! Sme parents of my acquaintance are dealing with far worse.

Don't be mortified - my daughter has this atm, I'm treating it with cream, I couldn't care less who knows it. My son has had it too, and I admit then I was less blase about it, and wondered about swimming etc. but it's fine, so please don't worry :)

caught by touching, another child probably gave to yours someone with cats more than likely... as everyone says, just one of those things Wink don't be too upset, fucidin is good stuff :)

Plenty of swimming in the sea if you can, the salt water is always good...

I was treated for it for 6 months me infact have granuloma annulare. If it doesn't go or get better, ask for a referral.
