In pieces. 3wo Ds2 has been droopy/sleepy all day after a grumpy night. Hv was due her first visit today and recommended we see the dr. Got appt w ooh service at 1930 who found he had a temperature and called the hosp paeds to check what we could give him. They asked us to come in and now I'm in a room hearing him cry on the otherwise of the ward while they poke him.

Anyone been here? Positive stories and support? Sorry a bit brisk but I'm not at my best.

You poor things. I hope the results come soon and that DS makes a speedy recovery. Look after yourself.

1st results back from LP and v positive; no organisms or white blood cells in there so 99% sure not meningitis . Still waiting on 1st bloods but do not expect to see anything in there - will update. Anti bs will continue: once these first ones r complete we'll move to ward.

I am touched by your stories, vibes, prayers and support. Thank you.

So glad it's looking positive for your DS. I know it's different but we all fat a d&v bug a couple of months ago and me DH and older DCs were rough for a day or so but bounced back. DS2 was six months old and was really ill for a week.

What I'm trying to say is that sometimes babies get a relatively harmless virus which makes them seem quite ill but isn't serious and they just need a bit of help to beat it.

Ds1 had a LP at 4wo, the only consolation was I wasn't in the room and they only attempt 3 times, if they can't get a sample after that then they leave it, Ds sample wasn't very good but enough to be analysed, just reassuring to know they won't keep at it unnecessarily. Don't know why that comforted me so much Sad

So far, so good then dizzy.
Hope you both can now get some rest for a bit.

I think it may be a bug DS1 had (for 24 hours) earlier in the week. I'm beating myself up slightly for not demanding to see the dr earlier in the day (knowing the Hv was coming) when he was unsettled all night and then v tired all day. I assumed that we were in the first night of colic given his age, not that he was ill Sad.

But the same thing probably would have happened, just earlier on. It is relatively calm here at the hospital now and hopefully ds will get some sleep.

Glad it's looking like nothing serious dizzy. Sounds similar to DS2 wrt being quite ill from a big that older DCs bounce back from. It's terrifying when they're so young and same so poorly.

Hope he's feeling better and he soon.

StitchAteMySleep · 28/06/2013 00:20

Glad the preliminary results came back clear.

I hope your ds can sleep and you can rest a little too.

Don't forget to eat something, not easy I know in hospital with so much stress, but you need to keep your reserves up.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 28/06/2013 09:06

How's things this morning dizzy?

WLmum · 28/06/2013 10:09

Hope you both managed some rest over night. I agree with some if the other posts - in the case if my dd it was just a bug that made her quite poorly but was not actually a big threat and she did bounce back really fast.

Mine had this: ds1 at 18 days (was a UTI), ds2 at 27 days (was enterovirus - which they found in the lumbar puncture test, which I thought quite bizarre). It was standard procedure for sick babies, just in case they had meningitis, in both places (different countries, neither UK, one with endemic meningitis Shock ). It was DREADFUL, and now they are 11 and 8yo and most completely fine and obviously don't remember a single thing about any of it. It was much less bad for me with ds2, having seen it through to a happy conclusion with ds1. Best of luck to you and ds.
